In 1980, the closure of Chonnam University in the city of Gwangju provoked a student uprising that was massively repressed in bloodshed. Today, it is regarded as the emblem of a general aspiration for democracy in South Korea. We're off to Gwangju to establish the genealogy of the many photographs that played a key role in our knowledge of the event.
